Tuscan Inspired Kitchen Cabinetry
Tuscany is one of Italy’s regions and located 300 km south of Milan and 280 north of Rome. Its capital region is Florence. In the Italian language, Tuscany is Toscana and the locals are called Toscani. This beautiful country is not only a tourist spot but the ideal retirement place of many foreigners, as well as a gourmet destination. It has a certain charm that is quite irresistible and leaves one in awe.
I fell in love with Tuscany the first time I saw it from a book that my friend has given to me 7 years ago. I marveled at its picturesque rolling hills that reminded me so much of the movie, Sound of Music, the long and winding road, the olive trees, the famous vineyards and cellars, the rustic feel of the place, and the relaxed atmosphere that exuded elegance and grace. The houses in Tuscany are not the usual houses that we see today. The furniture, kitchen cabinetry, the bed frame, tables and chairs and everything in it are all medieval inspired. Having this kind of ambiance around me is simply breathtaking.
The book left me mesmerized and in a dream-like state. I would want to visit this place one day. I would want to see Tuscany with my own eyes. I would want to experience and be influenced by the Tuscany culture.
If only I could, I would. And so I thought, “What if Tuscany will serve as my inspiration for my dream home?” Incorporating it into my lifestyle will definitely improve my well-being. If given the opportunity, without the slightest hesitation, I would start with the kitchen. I have always loved to cook and one of my favorite foods is Italian. A Tuscany inspired kitchen sets the exact mood for cooking. The colors will most likely reflect the colors of the region, its rich soil, lovely sunshine and the rolling hills. The kitchen cabinets will have the exceptional quality of natural wood and painted in sunny colors. The light will come in naturally from the windows, semi-filtered with curtains or none at all. I would like to have that “Under the Tuscan Sun” feel in the kitchen with flowers here and there, and a bit of raw wood, and rustic tables. I would like to feel like I’m always on vacation even if it’s just one of those ordinary days at home.
Since I am into cooking, the kitchen cabinets should have a complete set of copper-colored pots and pans. The pantry should also have various kinds of pasta noodles, olive oil, condiments, and just about anything important for my cooking. And before I forget, I would want a wine cellar, too. I could use the wine in a few of my recipes, and for relaxation after a hectic day at work.
My imagination has gone far, but well, dreams can come true. Who knows, I will have my own Tuscan inspired kitchen cabinetry soon.
